Business & Industry Review

The 20th Annual Business & Industry Review is scheduled for March 16th & 17th at the Neosho High School Cafeteria.  Show hours are Friday – 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. (Business to Business) and Saturday – 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (Open to the public).  The theme is “Roaring 20’s” (Celebrating 20 Years of the Business & Industry Review).   Please incorporate this theme in your booth!  Booth colors are black and gold.

 

A new feature on Friday night at our “Business to Business Night” will be our booth spotlights!  We are looking for 6 sponsors ($50 sponsorship plus provide a door prize).  We will spotlight a business that evening by giving you (the sponsor) the opportunity to make a special announcement (over the PA system) where you can say a few words about your business plus we will draw for your door prize.  Everyone who attends Friday night will receive a ticket when they enter to be eligible for these special drawings (must be present to win)!  Please contact our Chamber Office to sign-up for this sponsorship!

Talkington Foundation Ham ‘n Bean Supper

Talkington Foundation invites you to their Ham ‘n Bean Supper on Tuesday, February 28thfrom 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Talkington Foundation Building at Valley & McCord St.  A minimum donation of $5.00 per person.

Neosho R-5 School District will host March’s First Friday Coffee on Friday, March 2ndfrom 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. at their Administrative Building at 418 Fairground Rd.  Mark your calendars to attend!

Neosho’s City-Wide Garage Sale is scheduled for Saturday, April 14thThis year’s event will be held the second Saturday in April because the first weekend is Easter.This annual event draws large crowds of bargain hunters to Neosho, so whether you’re buying or selling, mark your calendars and be ready for a busy day!

 

Petfinder Shelter Challenge

Methodist Men’s Potato Soup Benefit

Neosho United Methodist Men will host their annual potato soup fundraiser on Friday, March 16thin their church basement at 224 S. Wood.  Lunch will be served from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and dinner from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.  The meal includes their famous potato soup, a dessert and drink.  Adults are $4.00 each and children are $2.00 each.  Take- outs and deliveries are available, please call the church office at 451-2310.

 

Souper Faithful Friends Fundraiser

Faithful Friends Animal Advocates will host a “Souper Faithful Friends Fundraiser” on Saturday, March 31stfrom 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Lampo Building.  Come and enjoy ALL YOU CAN EAT SOUP!  Soup and chili provided by:  Café Angelica, Julie Fountain Caterer, Instant Karma/Eagle Drive-In, Great Western Dining and The Bayou.  Adults – $7.00, Children (5 and under) – $3.00.  There will be drinks and dessert too!  Door prizes, raffle items, auction of wonderful homemade pies and lots of fun! 

 

2nd Annual Bright Futures Golf Tournament

The 2nd Annual Bright Futures Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, April 20that 9:00 a.m. at the Neosho Golf Course.  $150 a team (4 man scramble) includes greens, cart, breakfast, complimentary beverage cart and lunch.  Griffith Motor Company is the title sponsor and offering a Chevy Cruze (or equal value) for a hole in one!  The rain date is April 27th.  Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams, and longest drive and closest to the hole.  For more information or to register your team, contact Brian Cook at 451-8600, ext. 1162.

 

Art in the Park

George Washington Carver National Monument will host their Art in the Park on Saturday, April 28thfrom 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Come and enjoy this free event showcasing the artwork of George Washington Carver.  Plein-air artists will set up along the trail, capturing the beauty of the woodlands, prairie, and streams.  Artists will conduct art workshops throughout the day and visitors are encouraged to participate.  A “budding artists” area will feature natural dyes, painting color swatches and other children’s art activities.

 

Neosho R5 Schools Preschool and Kindergarten Screenings

Neosho R5 Schools Preschool and Kindergarten Screenings will be offered March through April 2012 at the PAT office at Field School located at 302 Smith Ave.  Eligibility requirements:  Preschool – child must be four years old before August 1st, 2012; Kindergarten – child must be five years old before August 1st, 2012.  Schedule your appointment by calling 451-8632 beginning February 1st.

Hermann Jaeger, Ozark Grape Hunter:  Saving European Vineyards in the Late 19th Century

The Crowder College Longwell Museum will host Hermann Jaeger, Ozark Grape Hunter:  Saving European Vineyards in the Late 19th Century.  The exhibit will be on display January 23rd – February 10th.  This is a historical and scientific exhibit about Hermann Jaeger, the naturalist, grape breeder, and viticulturist of Neosho, whose wild and hybrid grapes helped Europe recover from an economic disaster during the 19th century.  The museum hours are from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.  For more information, call 455-5470.

 

Core Ensemble Performs Chamber Music Theatre Work Celebrating Harlem Renaissance

On Tuesday, January 24th at 7:00 p.m. at the Elsie Plaster Community Center at Crowder College, you are invited to attend a new sort of performance and it is coming from New York City produced by the Core Ensemble.  It will be presented by a group known as OF EBONY EMBERS.   They will present vignettes of the Harlem Renaissance.  This is a chamber music theatre work for music trio and a solo actor exploring the lives of poets Langston Hughes, Claude McKay and Countee Cullen and visual artist Aaron Douglas during the vibrant time of the Harlem Renaissance.  Admission is free!

 

Bright Futures Neosho Bowling Tournament Fundraiser

Bright Futures Neosho will host a Bowling Tournament Fundraiser on Friday, January 27th at 7:00 p.m. at Edgewood Bowl at 2811 Gardner Edgewood Dr.  Cost is $25/person or $100 for a 4 person team.  Register by Wednesday, January 25th!  For more information and to register your team, contact Brian Cook at 451-8600, ext. 1162.

 

Sweet Arts Gala

The Neosho Arts Council will host their Sweet Arts Gala on Saturday, February 4that 6:00 p.m. at The Civic.  This will be a semi-formal dinner, cash bar, auction and dance.  Cost is $40 per person.  For more information, call 451-2885.

 

The Grotto Art Gallery

The Grotto Art Gallery will host a Sneak Preview of the Art to be auctioned during the Sweet Arts Gala on Saturday, January 28thfrom 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.  Artwork will be on display at the Gallery during the month of January.  Our area’s finest artists are contributing to this event!  Enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres.

YMCA Strong Kids Campaign

Neosho Freeman Family YMCA is selling trees with half the proceeds going to the Y Strong Kids Campaign.  Trees for sale:  White Dogwood, Eastern Redbud, Yoshino Flowering Cherry, Newport Flowering Plum, Autumn Blaze Maple and Japanese Maple.  Trees range from $20-$35.  For an additional $5 per tree, they will plant it for you!  Don’t need a tree – buy a tree to donate to Joplin!  For more information or to order, contact Johanna at 455-9999.

 

Take Down Hunger

Bright Futures volunteers are accepting donations for the Food for Thought backpack program!  Each week the Food For Thought program provides some essential items to students over the weekends.  Items needed:  V8 juice (5.5 oz.), Vienna sausages, single serving ravioli with pop-top lid.  Please bring items to the Basketball Game on February 3rd.  Items may also be dropped off at these locations:  Boulevard Bank, Cornerstone Bank of Goodman, Parks Insurance and PriceCutter.

 

11th Annual Christopher Foundation Gospel Celebration

The 11th Annual Christopher Foundation Gospel Celebration will be held on Saturday, February 4that First Baptist Church.  A chili/hotdog supper and silent auction begins at 5:00 p.m.; singing at 6:00 p.m.  There is no charge for this event, but a love offering will be accepted.  For more information, contact Cathy at 451-1434 or 389-4415.

 

“Eggs & Issues” Legislative Forum

The Carthage Chamber will host an “Eggs & Issues” Legislative Forum on Friday, February 17that 10:15 a.m. at the Grace Point Assembly of God Church at 1605 S. Baker Blvd. – Carthage.  Mark your calendars and be watching for more details!
